North Queensland prop James Tamou been charged with a drink-driving offence in Townsville at about 3.30am on Monday.
The New South Wales State of Origin representative allegedly recorded an alcohol reading of 0.197.
He will not contest the charge and the matter will be heard in the Townsville Magistrates Court on July 2.
A statement released by Cowboys chief executive Peter Jourdain said, “The Cowboys are extremely disappointed, as is James, in these events,”
“James is taking responsibility for his actions and is very remorseful that he has put himself in this position.
“This is his first offence. He knows it is a serious one and that he will have to pay a penalty.”
